The Newton County Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitors Bureau/Tourism is sponsoring a cemetery tour “Voices from the Past”- October 15th at the Covington Historical Cemetery- Baker Field (Davis Street) prices are $10.00 adults- students $5.00. Tour begins at 6:00 pm and tickets must be purchased for your tour time. Tours will begin every 15 minutes. Call Clara Deemer at 770-786-7510 for more information. Proceeds to benefit the Newton Miracle League Field.
“If you Build it….We will come” Newton County Recreation Commission, Covington Rotary Club, Covington Kiwanis Club and The Friends of Newton Parks have all joined together in partnership to build the first ever Miracle League Field in Newton County.
The complex will include a custom-designed field with a cushioned rubberized surface to help prevent injuries, wheelchair accessible dugouts, and a completely flat surface to eliminate any barriers to wheelchair-bound or visually impaired players. Accessible restrooms, a concession stand, and picnic pavilion will also be incorporated within this design.
With the help of community volunteers and companies, Newton County’s very first Miracle League complex would provide the opportunity for all children to play baseball regardless of their physical ability.Your contribution to the Miracle League Field project could make a difference in a child’s life.
